November 16, Thursday All That Glitters - Dahlonega
North Georgia's beautiful town of Dahlonega is our destination for all that glitters!
In the middle of the town square is the Dahlonega Gold Museum, where we will begin our time. We'll enjoy a bit of time to browse the quaint shops before our delicious meal at the Smith House, known for its southern fried chicken and side dishes, served up family-style. A fascinating old goldmine shaft is able to be viewed inside this restaurant! After this, we head to the Consolidated Gold Mine for a tour walking down into the mine, and trying your hand at a bit of gold panning yourself!
Gold was first discovered completely by accident in the Dahlonega area in 1828, 20 years before the Gold Rush to California. Come learn all about it!
This trip is not considered strenuous, but the inclined walking and steps in the mine do require stable footing, and it is not suitable for those who need walking aids. If you are not physically able to tour the mine, you can opt to spend extra time in the gift shop or panning.
As always, your motorcoach transportation and gratuities are included. Jacque & Kent escorting.
Non-refundable after October 14th. You may find someone else to transfer your spot to after that point.
8:30am departure Sun City Peachtree & 8:50am from Community Bible Church, arriving back ~6:15-7pm.
