Two great museums in one fantastic day of explorations, plus lunch!
We will motorcoach to Carterville, GA, about 50 miles north of downtown Atlanta. Cartersville is home to a number of very nice attractions. We will take in two terrific museums on this day, having approximately 2 hours at each location.
First, whether you are a serious car collector, a weekend car enthusiast, or simply a local taking on a adventure for the day, Savoy Automobile Museum aims to educate and entertain. Our travelers can participate in a one-hour guided tour, if you wish.
Through the Savoy Collection, as well as the rotating galleries, Savoy showcases automobiles of different makes, models, and eras. Through changing exhibits, educational programs, and engaging experiences individuals have the opportunity to appreciate the beauty and history of these vehicles.
We will dine at the Savoy Cafe, where your lunch is included for the day. You may order off their adult-pleasing menu of sandwiches, salads, soups, and wraps.
Next we head just down the road to the world-class Tellus Science Museum, a 120,000 square foot Smithsonian Institute Affiliate, which houses four major galleries - Weinman Mineral Gallery, Fossil Gallery, Science in Motion Gallery, and My Big Back Yard. In addition, the museum includes a fossil dig and gem panning hands-on experience, a planetarium, and an observatory. There is much to explore and to learn.
