October 29th, Thursday Blue Ridge Fall Colors & Apple Orchard
Back by popular demand...Blue Ridge is a warm and charming mountain village nestled in the lush Chattahoochee National Forest. It is known for it's pleasant and unique shopping with friendly folks and an old-time atmosphere. Mercier Orchards is one of the top tourism attractions in GA. It is a family owned and operated apple orchard now in it's 4th generation.
This year, we are doing things in a different order and taking the 3pm train.
We will visit Mercier Orchards upon mid-day arrival in Blue Ridge. You will have plenty of time to examine the fruits and goodies awaiting there, make purchases, and grab a bite to eat in the cafe, if you wish.
You are invited to bring a cooler to stow under the bus, to safely store your purchases for the day.
Then we'll head to downtown Blue Ridge for a little browsing time before boarding the train.
Two great options to choose between:
- $110 Both Railway and Orchards! Take the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway from the historic depot in Blue Ridge to McCaysville on a 26 mile round-trip ride (4 hours). The train will have a two-hour layover in the small town of McCaysville, where you can shop antique stores and craft stores, walk the old bridge to view the river, and get a bite for dinner in one of the local eateries.
- $65 No Railway... just Orchards and Blue Ridge! Spend time in Historic downtown Blue Ridge and not take the train, There are many unique shops to explore and restaurants to consider for dinner. A self-guided Historic Walking Tour map is also available. Enter the code BLUERIDGEONLY at check-out, if you choose this option. It will deduct $45 from the price and we will not reserve a train ticket for you.
Meals are not included on this trip.
